Markeya Dancy joined Jo Ann’s Place as a Forensic Interviewer in September 2025. She brings a deep passion for supporting children and families through compassionate and trauma-informed care.
Before joining Jo Ann’s Place, Markeya served as the Head Start Director in Nash County for two years and previously worked as a Child Protective Services Social Worker in Edgecombe, Nash, and Guilford counties. Her experience spans Investigations, In-Home Services, and Foster Care, giving her a broad understanding of the challenges children and families face and the resources they need to thrive.
A proud 2016 graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Markeya holds a bachelor’s degree in social work. She is trained in Recognizing Abuse Disclosures and Responding (RADAR) and is dedicated to creating a child-friendly, supportive environment where children feel safe to share their experiences. As a forensic interviewer, she approaches each case with neutrality, empathy, and professionalism.
Outside of work, Markeya is a devoted wife and mother of two. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, and relaxing in the sauna.
